Not a very big crowd, probably due to COVID restrictions but a decent crowd for the show. There were quite a few regular attendees of BritWres shows that I recognised anyway and it was a great turnout for SWW’s first show in Cardiff.

“Septic” Sid Oakley vs. Billy Haze

The opening contest saw Billy Haze go one-on-one with “Septic” Sid Oakley. Billy was quite obviously the fan favourite in this one but, unfortunately, having the crowd behind him didn’t get him the victory as Oakley picked up the win, somewhat controversially, after hitting him with a low blow and then making Haze submit to the Sharpshooter.

Bishop vs. Wesker

The next match saw two members of BDK battle as Bishop took on the debuting Wesker. As I expected when the match was announced, it was an absolute hoss fight.

The match was an absolute scrap that ended in a double count-out when Wesker and Bishop took their brawl to ringside, with them continuing the brawl to backstage as the referee counted them both out.

Man Like DeReiss vs. “Bronco” Brendan White vs. Harrison Bennett

The next match was a triple threat match between Man Like DeReiss, Brendan White and Harrison Bennett. This match showcased just how good these three wrestlers really are with all three of them really doing everything they could to walk away with a big victory.

Brendan picked up the win by dropping Bennett with his version of the Black Hole Slam.

Lee Hunter vs. Nico Angelo

The final match before intermission saw a dream match of mine as Lee Hunter took on Nico Angelo. As the match wore on, it was obvious who was the crowd favourite and who was the villain as Hunter kept talking trash while the crowd got behind Angelo.

In an absolutely incredible match, one of my favourite of the night, that easily could have gone either way, Angelo picked up the victory after hitting Hunter with a variation of the Gotch Style Piledriver

Mike Bird vs. Charlie Sterling - Bird’s Open Challenge

The first match after intermission was the third instalment of Mike Bird’s open challenge. It was answered by one half of the Smoking’ Aces, and current Progress Tag Team Champions, Charlie Sterling.

Charlie gave Bird one hell of a match, but, alas, it was for naught as Bird picked up another victory at SWW after dropping Sterling with a piledriver to pick up the win and continue his impressive run of form.

LA Taylor © vs. Lucia Lee - Cardiff Street Fight, SWW Warriors Title

The next match was the only title match of the night as LA Taylor made her first defence of the SWW Warriors title as she took on Lucia Lee in a Cardiff Street Fight.

This was, arguably, my match of the night. Both LA and Lucia are incredible talents and this was an absolute scrap, with many weapons getting brought into it.

Lucia came out all guns blazing, with there being a few moments in the match where I honestly thought she’d win the match, and, with that, the title. Lucia dropped Taylor with an incredible Shining Wizard early on in the match but, unfortunately, that did not keep LA down.

The match soon moved to the outside, with weapons being brought into it soon after. LA took control of the match by taking Lucia out with a crutch.

Taylor kept the attack going by sending Lucia back first into the steel post. The street fight even went onto the stairs as Lucia kicked the champion, sending her tumbling down them. Lucia even climbed onto a barrier and took Taylor out with a dive on the outside.

When Lucia was about to pick up a steel chair to use on LA, Taylor stood on it and picked it up herself, throwing it into Lucia’s face. A uranage slam following that got a two-count.

As Lucia recovered, she went to the backstage area for a second and came back out with a steel chair with barbed wire covering it, with BDK written on it.

She then set up both chairs close to each other and looked to send Taylor through them, only for the champion to avoid it and put Lucia through the chairs herself. That scored LA the victory, meaning she retained the title.

Jake O’Grady vs. KM Lane

In the final match before the main event, KM Lane took on the debuting Jake O’Grady. I didn’t really know either of them prior to the match but they put on one hell of a match.

O’Grady put up a good fight but Lane picked up the victory after hitting Jake with a Brainbuster to get the three count.

SWW Originals (Buzzsaw Bronson, Dinger Bane, Flynn Burden, Gilligan Gordon and Jack Byrd) vs. House of Terror (Chris Adams, Chris Bronson, ELIJAH, Jay Joshua, and LK Mezinger) - Five-on-Five Elimination Tag Team match

Before the match even started, both teams brawled until the referee took control and finally got the match underway. Jack Byrd of the SWW Originals and Chris Adams of House of Terror.

Byrd was the first to be eliminated, giving House of Terror an early five-on-four advantage.

Over the next ten to fifteen minutes, Buzzsaw Bronson, Dinger Bane, and Gilligan Gordon were eliminated, leaving Flynn Burden to take on ELIJAH, Chris Bronson, and LK Mezinger on his own in a three-on-one handicap situation.

Flynn’s surgically repaired knee had been attacked throughout the match so it seemed like he wouldn’t be able to pull out the victory.

However, after chokeslamming Mezinger, then chokeslamming ELIJAH onto LK, eliminating both of them at the same time, Burden’s chances of winning the match looked stronger.

After escaping a brutal-looking ankle lock, Burden dropped Bronson with a HUGE chokeslam to get the final pinfall, becoming the sole survivor for his team.

Due to his injury, he was helped to the back but that did not take away his achievement of being the sole survivor for the elimination tag team match main event.

For my first SWW event, I really enjoyed it. My match of the night was definitely the Cardiff Street Fight, with the main event tag team elimination match a very close second.

It definitely has made me want to attend another SWW show and I hope I get to at some point in the near future. An absolutely amazing night of action.
