WRESTLER CRUSH WEDNESDAY: KANJI
Author: Rebecca Gault (@timelessthekla)
Welcome to Wrestler Crush Wednesday – your weekly feature here at Grapple Theory where I, your humble host, tell you all about my indie wrestler crush of the week so you know who to look out for on the independent scene!
Now, if you’ve ever been to…well, almost any BritWres show, you’ll have almost certainly taken part in one very specific chant, despite the fact that we have so very many of them.
If you were to sit at a BritWres show and hear one lone voice in the crowd cry out “can she do it?”. Well, what can you do except respond “yes, she Kanji!”

Kanji is perhaps one of the finest wrestlers on the British indie scene right now, a technical prodigy with quite possibly one of the best instincts for how to draw sympathy from a crowd that I’ve ever seen.
As much as the chant for her is inherently just very fun to do, it’s also proof of how badly every crowd she wrestles in front of wants to root for her.
Beneath her ability to work a crowd though, is a killer in the ring – Kanji’s slick technical style is honestly a wonder to behold and absolutely the way to show your friends exactly how exciting true technical wrestling can be.
As a mainstay in RevPro and Progress, Kanji has carved out a firm place for herself and it’s been well-earned too, rocketing her into the upper echelons of the scene where she is so sorely needed.

In RevPro, Kanji is also a friend of Mercedes Mone, despite being the first one to challenge her for the RevPro Undisputed British Women’s title after she won it from Mina Shirakawa. In one of the matches widely agreed to be one of the best, both of Kanji’s career and of Mercedes’s indie runs, we got to see exactly what makes Kanji special, even in loss.
Lately however, Kanji has had far more wins than losses. As the current ATTACK champion and the current Resurgence champion, along with stints in CMLL and a #42 ranking in the PWI 250, Kanji is here to stay and you better be ready for it.
If you want to see more of Kanji’s work, consider checking out her ATTACK title match against Jay Joshua, her match with Rhio in Progress, and her 2 out of 3 falls match with Emersyn Jayne in RevPro!
