Pro Wrestling EVE: God Save The Wrestle Queens
Electric Ballroom, London

After an alright first day of action at the Electric Ballroom for PROGRESS, it was time to kill some time in between shows so we headed down the road to grab ourselves some dinner - I also brought myself a Replica Micheal Jordan Chicago Bulls 1996-1997 Jersey off the markets, after haggling from £40 to £26.

After that it was time to collect our mate Adam from outside one of the pubs before we headed to the queue for EVE. The venue didn’t have the balcony open, with all the chairs being downstairs, I’d estimate maybe around 120 in the building on this evening with the rest of the weekend goers either going to Sunshine Machine’s Rock, Paper, Scissors event or enjoying the Jubilee activities…will it surprise you to know that the show started late.

Our host for this night was Bonnie Knockers, she was very good as the host and did feel like a good follow up act to what Lolo Brow has been doing. I would say that I’d let things breathe a bit more first though before introducing something else.

Alexxis Falcon, Gia Adams & Nightshade were all off this show so some card changes were in effect.

Jetta vs Nina Samuels

This was our ‘audience only’ match before the online livestream kicked in. This was a very good match, got the crowd warmed up for sure. Because of both working together so regularly, they have a good knack for knowing how to draw a crowd in and create an engaging match that nearly went to the time limit.

But that wasn’t to be as Jetta won with a Sunset Flip into a pinfall to get the win and kick the night off on a good note.

Titanium Infinity (Charlie Morgan & Alex Windsor) vs Safire Reed & Kacileigh Summers - EVE Tag Team Titles No.1 Contenders Match

This match was made as a result of the card changes, with it being experience vs rookies here. I was made up to see Safire make her debut here as well, someone that I’ve been championing for a while now.

This was probably my favourite match of the show, I enjoyed the Dynamic and thought Morgan and Windsor did a good job at showcasing themselves as stars in their offence but also the way that they made the two young’uns look great as well.

I will say that Summers did look good with her new gear and she does have fire in her high flying but a lot of her offence was a bit messy and needed fine tuning to make it look great. Safire on the other hand kept things simple with Suplexes and Uppercuts which looked really good.

In the end though, we had the more experienced names winning after Windsor hit the Powerbomb and Swanton Bomb combination to get herself and Charlie their title opportunity.

We had the Uprising attack them afterwards and Rhia said the championship match would be happening right there and then.

The Uprising (Rhia O’Reilly & Skye Smitson) vs Titanium Infinity (Charlie Morgan & Alex Windsor) - EVE Tag Team Championship Match

This was a lot different to Morgan & Windsor’s previous match with them brawling with Uprising all over the Ballroom, even had to stand by the ring at one point just to see what was happening.

I do think the camera work on the big screen did limit this and felt like the atmosphere was down one end of the venue.

Both teams had times of dominance on the outside and things looked to be Uprising’s way when they took them out but Infinity would recover and hit stereo dives off the stage in a very GIF worthy moment.

They got back in the ring but they continued the brawling which I really enjoyed but I was left with the feeling that this should be a bigger deal and be built to, that feeling felt validated when the finish came very suddenly after Rhia used the belt on Windsor and Smitson picked up the pin.

Charlie Morgan said that this wasn’t over afterwards on the mic.

The AVA vs Clementine

Ava with a pre-match promo saying how great she is and that she was going to squash Clementine tonight, good babyface fire from Clementine through this match as well.

I have to be honest though, I didn’t think this was very good; despite the good character work of both, I felt like the in-ring work left a lot to be desired with many sequences feeling like they fell apart and didn’t recover from either.

My favourite moment of the match was Ava shouting out that clementine (the fruit not the person) juice “tastes like piss”. Ava won this with the Gotch Style Neutralizer, as Clementine loses another one, hopefully a storyline is made of this.

Laura Di Matteo vs Mercedez Blaze

This was a decent enough match, really like both talents but did feel like the tiredness was starting to settle in from people who had been there since the early afternoon and as a result this match took a while to get going - then by the time it got going it felt like it ended prematurely.

I personally would have made it a championship match as well, to make this show feel like a big deal, and I feel Blaze should be used more for these shows. She’s really improved since the shows returned. Laura wins this with the Three V’s submission hold.

Kasey vs Emersyn Jayne

This was made as the match that should have taken place in January but didn’t due to Kasey’s injury, it was also billed as a Grudge Match.

Now, I’ve watched EVE pretty closely for a long time now and I’m not even sure what this feud is about and you’ll see my disdain for that soon enough.

Started off with some technical wrestling which I found odd but did like that Kasey struck Emersyn down and said that she didn’t come here for a match, she came for a fight.

The brawling between them did feel hard nosed and beneficial to the feud, but when the weapons came out my enjoyment went down. I felt them taking time to set up spots really slowed down the momentum of this match.

Kasey, despite supposedly being the heel, was over like the hero and Emersyn receiving little to no reaction, her babyface character has been terrible this year.

There were a couple of chair spots with one of them seeing Emersyn giving Kasey the Ki Crusher off the ropes and through the chairs, but instead of them going through the seats they went on top of the chairs itself in a spot that looked really dangerous and not fun to watch.

Now for the spot that completely turned me off this match; Emersyn got the skewers out and badly implanted them into Kasey’s head. I hate this spot, always looks bad, feels too cutesy in a supposedly serious match, and to me it’s just not wrestling, there’s no emotion to it as well, I never believed that Emersyn wanted to give this much pain to Kasey.

The drawing pins were brought out, because of course they were, they did some spots on them and then Kasey wrapped this match up with a Knee Strike.

For me, one of the worst matches I’ve seen this year, absolutely hate Deathmatches, especially when there’s little to no reason for the violence to be of that level.

I thought a lot of this looked bad as well, Joey Janela levels of it which isn’t a good thing; I like both these talents but I’d rather watch them in proper matches rather than this stuff, a lot of people liked it but could not stand this match.

Overall, I thought this show was very disappointing. They had the chance here to bring in a few new fans from the PROGRESS side and convert them into EVE show regulars.

I just thought a lot of this was a let down. There were a few highlights, mostly the two Titanium Infinity matches, but they fell short of getting to truly great levels.

There was a lot of wrestling that I really don’t like, Left this show feeling very cold and am just hoping that the SHE-1 delivers.
