WRESTLER CRUSH WEDNESDAY: ANITA VAUGHAN

Rebecca Gault will be bringing you Wrestler Crush Wednesdays every week

Welcome to Wrestler Crush Wednesday, your new weekly feature over here at Grapple Theory! Each week, I will, as your humble host, give you a rundown on my indie wrestler crush of the week so you know exactly who you should be looking out for on the independent scene…

For anyone who’s ever heard me speak about wrestling for longer than, ooh, ten minutes, the inaugural entry to this series will absolutely come as no surprise. So, today, let’s talk about Anita Vaughan!

From Cork, Ireland, Anita Vaughan is All Violence, baby. She’s a tough, hard hitting powerhouse wrestler, not afraid to get a little mean with it in the ring, and honestly? That’s most of the appeal for me.

Vaughan is an incredibly talented wrestler, but her crowd interaction and heel work really helps elevate her to a new level. You can see her working all over the UK and Europe, with regular spots on the card at Pro Wrestling EVE, wXw, and Hustle to name a few. She’s also recently just made her Progress debut with her tag team partner, Safire Reed, to a thunderous response.

The crowds love Hyperactive, even if AV is a wonderful singles heel. In the long run, it’s definitely worth watching out for Anita Vaughan. She’s been invited to WWE tryouts, has wrestled some of AEW’s top stars - including a barn burner of a match with Kris Statlander at EVE - and is only getting better with every outing.

Or, well, worse morally if you happened to see her latest appearance at RevPro where she joined the Cut Throat Collective and turned on Nina Samuels. Granted, your mileage may vary on how sorry you feel for Nina!

As of this week, Vaughan is only getting more and more traction – having placed on the PWI Women’s 250 list at #127. Expect to see that number rise as she continues on this incredible trajectory!

If you want to get on board the AV train - and you should - consider checking out her EVE International Title match with Kris Statlander or her wXw Femmes Fatales match with Debbie Keitel. Welcome – it’s all violence.
