Welcome to Wrestler Crush Wednesday – your weekly feature here at Grapple Theory where I, your humble host, tell you all about my indie wrestler crush of the week so you know who to look out for on the independent scene!
Much like her new tag partner, this one is a race against time to get up before any new developments hit—isn’t it always the way? So, while she is still an indie wrestler and not snapped up by a big company, let’s discuss the incredible Maya World!

As a new, rising star on the scene, Maya World’s name has been in everyone’s mouths lately. World hails from Texas and, in recent months, has been making the most of some TV time after stepping up admirably to fill the role needed—an attitude that’ll get you far in the business!
However, it’s very clear that World has been putting in the work on the independent circuit too, with appearances across promotions such as Game Changer Wrestling, Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling, and Metroplex Wrestling.

For someone so young and new to the scene, World has carved out such a strong niche so quickly. Her high-flying style is a great blend of athleticism and presence, not to mention the bucketloads of charm she has alongside it.
World has previously cited Athena and Mercedes Moné as her inspirations in the business and there’s shades of that same love for wrestling in her work.
Now, if you’re curious about World’s indie work—and I hope you are! —I’d recommend you start by hunting down her West Coast Pro match with Willow Nightingale for a real showcase of how easily she can compete with one of the most charismatic women in the business!

Beyond that, her work with Athena’s promotion MPX is worth watching—she’s had a singles match with Billie Starkz that had some excellent technical work and the sort of smoothness that even vets struggle to find!
Of course, there’s every chance that you’ll see Maya soon on your televisions and that would be a very well-earned deal for such a young talent!
